Company History

National Car Rental was founded in 1947 when 24 independent car rental operators joined forces to start operations in 60 cities in the United States, at this time they had an800 vehiclesfleet. By the second half of the next decade, in 1957, it was already a strong corporation established in St. Louis, Missouri.

In 1974 the company settled in Minneapolis, where it remained for 23 years, until 1998, the year in which it moved its corporate offices to Florida. In 2007, the National Car Rental brand was acquired by Enterprise Holdings, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, making it the largest car rental group in the world, both in terms of the volume of its operations and the number of employees. and vehicles, in an impressive return to the city that gave birth to this powerful brand.

The prestige of National Car Rental is based on avant-garde actions. National Car Rental was the first company to offer, in 1954, a plan in which the customer could rent the vehicle in one location and leave it in another. In 1966, it was the first company to introduce the use of computers for daily car reservations. In 1987, he launched the Emerald Club plan for his frequent customers. In 2010, the editors of The SmarterTravel chose National Car Rental as the winner of the Best Car Rental Loyalty Program.

All this has led National Car Rental to conquer the market not only in the United States, but also in Canada, Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, Africa and Australia and even be an official sponsor of important events, such as the PGA Tour (Professional Golf Association) since 1994.

In 1974 National Car Rental began its operations in the Dominican Republic with the franchise business model. It is locally operated by Motor Plan S.A., part of Grupo Ámbar, one of the main automobile groups in the country.

Since its inception, National Car Rental offers mobility solutions with an agile and efficient service to business travelers, insurance clients and corporate clients.

With the aim of being closer to each of our clients, we provide our services through our 20 offices located nationwide and non-face-to-face channels such as: Contact Center, website and whatsapp.

We are in the cities with the greatest economic and tourist activity as: Santo Domingo, La Romana, Bávaro / Punta Cana, Puerto Plata and Santiago. Our main goal is to provide our outstanding service to all our clients.
