Our second stop is Boca de Yuma, a very picturesque fishermen’s town located in La Altagracia province. This place counts with a great diversity of attractions to visit: Casa Museo Ponce de León, the Hoyo Zumbador and the Yuma River.
We recommend you start this journey at La Cueva de Berna, which, just like our last stop, is part of the Cotubanamá National Park, and it´s another awesome destination perfect for the adventure-seeking travelers who enjoy taíno art. The Cueva de Berna, or Cueva de Bernard (the way some people call it), carries its name to honor one of Boca de Yuma´s founders, John Bernard.
Afterwards, we suggest you visit the Casa Museo Ponce de León, a beautiful building that was made of stone in the 16th century and that, up until today, remains with the furniture and appliances of the time when it was inhabited by the Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de León.
Finally, you have the option of taking a wonderful boat ride on the Yuma River or going for a swim in the Hoyo Zumbador beach. If you have time, we highly encourage you to do both. Thank us later!
